Quinte West relaunches Community Heroes program

Date Posted: 2021-01-20

Organization Name: City of Quinte West

The City of Quinte West wants to keep recognizing community heroes. After an incredibly positive response from the Quinte West Community Heroes program at the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, the city is launching a year-round version of the campaign.

Throughout 2021, residents can nominate people in Quinte West who have gone above and beyond as members of the community. The city will accept nominations through the online engagement platform getinvolved.quintewest.ca.

“It brings us great pride to recognize the outstanding contributions our residents are making in the community,” said Quinte West Mayor Jim Harrison. “It’s important to keep shining a light on the positive actions that happen every day in Quinte West. I always say that Quinte West is the best, and that’s because of our incredible community.”

Staff will review the nominations and select a winner each month. The chosen Community Hero will be profiled on social media and receive a Good Deeds bag.

Each set of prizes will be purchased from another group of local heroes – Quinte West businesses. Businesses will receive a special highlight of their products and operating practices during the ongoing pandemic.

“Our local businesses are working tirelessly to meet provincial guidelines and maintain proper protocol,” said Economic Development & Tourism Services Manager Linda Lisle. “We thank them for their efforts and want to give back to them during this difficult time by featuring them all year long in this campaign.”

Nominations will be accepted year-round, with a “hero feature” shared on city’s social media channels each month. All nominations will be available for the public to view and celebrate.
