Organization Name: Municipality of Clarington

Clarington Tourism launched a brand new online Business and Attractions Directory to support local Tourism businesses during the COVID-19 pandemic.

“By supporting our local businesses and attractions, we are helping to rebuild our economy. Many businesses have continued to operate during the pandemic, while many more are starting to reopen. This new online directory is your one-stop shop to find out who is open and what safety precautions they are taking. Many businesses and attractions are eager to welcome residents and provide a nice respite from the lockdown caused by the pandemic,” said Clarington Mayor Adrian Foster.

This online directory contains the most current and up-to-date information on businesses and attractions to help residents rediscover their community as many businesses have pivoted to change and adjust their operations and services. The online directory is an idea fostered by the Clarington Tourism Advisory Committee, which provides advice to staff and makes recommendations to council on tourism-related issues.

“It is critical that we support these vital businesses that have suffered immensely during this pandemic. Tourism is the backbone of our community. This resource is a way to help promote these businesses as our community slowly emerges from self-isolation,” said Fred Archibald, Chair of the Tourism Advisory Committee.

The directory will be updated by staff. In fact, local tourism businesses and attractions who want to be listed are asked to fill out the form on the directory page so that staff can include these business listings. Clarington Tourism will continue to update the directory page with the latest information provided by business owners.

“Together, we can make a difference. Shop local and visit attractions in Clarington. By doing this, you are helping your neighbours, family, and friends who work in the tourism industry,” said Mayor Adrian Foster.

Residents and businesses owners are asked to help spread the word by sharing the directory web page on their social media channels. For more information, visit www.claringtontourism.net. Follow Clarington Tourism on Twitter @clartourism and Facebook @TourismClarington.
