The City of Langley has approximately 27,000 residents and exists in a ten square kilometer area in the heart of British Columbia’s Lower Mainland Economic Region. Strategically located inside the Metropolitan Vancouver area, the city has retained its own vibrant, independent community spirit. Langley is home to Kwantlen Polytechnic University campus and boasts a high-end shopping centre, and picturesque farmers’ markets. This is BC wine country, and horse country, and there are a wide variety of arts, culture and entertainment initiatives. The Fort Langley National Historic Site puts on seasonal events. Other employers include The Canadian Museum of Flight, numerous parks, rivers, and open-to-the-public horse farms. South Langley administrates the Campbell Valley Park, a large Metro Vancouver Regional Park, and within the park boundaries is the historic Rowlatt Farmstead, and the historic Lochiel Schoolhouse. In February 2006, the Township of Langley moved its Municipal Hall from the downtown area to the growing Willoughby area. The new facility also includes a research library, fitness room and community police station.
