We have an exciting Full Time Non-Unionized opportunity in the Policy Planning & Environmental Sustainability Department for an experienced and motivated individual

The Sustainability Coordinator supports the Manager, Environmental Sustainability in leading the implementation of Green Directions Vaughan, the Community Sustainability and Environmental Master Plan, and its goals, objectives, ethics and principles. Provides expertise and guidance to staff, develops internal and external communication materials, conducts related research, assists with policy development and manages projects. Develops and fosters partnerships with all levels of government, community and business associations and non-government organizations to advance environmental and sustainability programs.

Qualifications and experience:
  • A University degree in a discipline related to sustainability such as Environmental
    Management, Planning, Engineering or Environmental Sciences.
  • Minimum of one (1) to three (3) years related demonstrated experience in dealing with
    sustainability, the environment and their related issues
  • Computer proficiency utilizing Microsoft Office Suite software, and internet applications.
  • Excellent interpersonal, time management, organizational, presentation, facilitation skills.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Flexible and available to work outside normal business hours, as required.
The following areas of experience are an asset:
  • Experience in municipal government.
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills and the ability to build relationships
    at all levels and with a variety of internal and external stakeholders. Skills in marketing
    and change management considered an asset.
  • Experience in large scale event planning and execution that raises awareness and
    improves environmental literacy among citizens and staff.
