The role of the Chief Planner and Executive Director, City Planning is to be an inspirational leader who will lead and shape the future of a dynamic and growing City. You will bring your extensive experience in city building and coordination of public infrastructure and city programs to support the Official Plan's vision, urban structure and policies. As Chief Planner, you will be responsible for leading, managing, and directing all functions related to the City Planning Division. This includes engaging City Council, individual residents, businesses and other stakeholders on the development of policies and strategies which support the use of planning tools to build our communities and promote a sustainable, healthy and economically vital city. You will collaborate across the City to evaluate current processes and practices and apply innovative tools and thinking to advance how the division operates and delivers services. Your relationship and consensus building leadership gets things done.

In addition to having relevant subject matter expertise, you bring a proven track record of managing in environments with extensive scope, complexity, diversity of operations and competing interests. With a demonstrated understanding of the intricacy of the political environment and the role of public service, you have exceptional human relations skills to negotiate and communicate at al l levels and proactively lead organizational change processes. Demonstrated excellence in human resource and program /project management would round out your qualifications.
