(One Year Contract)
Located on the scenic Bruce Peninsula, abutting the shores of both Lake Huron and Georgian Bay, the Town of South Bruce Peninsula is home to the beauty of the Niagara Escarpment, stunning sandy beaches, some of the best parts of the Bruce Trail, and a variety of recreational activities including boating, fishing, swimming, hiking, snowmobiling, and skiing.
The Town of South Bruce Peninsula’s Public Works Department is accepting applications for a Public Works Technical Coordinator for a one (1) year contract. Applicants must submit a resume and cover letter outlining their qualifications for the position.
The Public Works Technical Coordinator will be responsible to assist with the management of engineering projects to ensure that costs are controlled to budget and schedule, as well as assisting with the administration of consultant and construction contracts including preparation of procurement documents, evaluation of proposals, contract management, regulatory approval, and monitoring through the construction stage to completion. Typically a Professional Engineer, Certified Engineering Technologist (or eligibility for certification within one year) or equivalent education and experience would be preferred. Applicants must have three (3) years’ experience managing or coordinating road, bridge, sidewalk, storm drainage, sanitary sewer and water distribution systems design, maintenance and replacement projects. Previous municipal experience would be an asset. The successful candidate will also coordinate landfill operations to ensure required compliance and effective and efficient operations, therefore a Manager of Landfill Operations (MOLO) certification would be considered an asset.
Applicants must have a thorough knowledge of computer applications including Microsoft Office Software (i.e. - Word, Excel, and Outlook). Experience in sewer and water modelling software, ArcGIS or AutoCAD Map will be considered an asset. The successful candidate will also demonstrate the ability to work collaboratively and communicate effectively, professionally, and courteously with all levels of staff, elected officials, other levels of government and the general public, both verbally and in writing.
