Reporting to the Deputy City Manager, Planning and Growth Management, the Director, Building Standards is responsible for the direction of the Building Standards Department including planning, developing, implementing strategies and goals to establish service levels and standards to meet the requirements of the City. The Director ensures building activities within the municipality are constructed in compliance with the Ontario Building Code and related legislative and regulatory standards. The Director is responsible for the department’s budget administration and management of approximately 80 staff.

The ideal candidate will possess a university degree in engineering, architecture or another related discipline as well as membership in the Ontario Building Officials Association. With at least 8 years of relevant experience, preferably gained in a municipal setting, and several years in a management capacity, the Director will be a trustworthy leader who manages their work to the highest standards of professionalism.
