The Town of Amherstburg is currently recruiting for a dedicated, detail oriented professional to fill the full-time position of Payroll Administrator.
Job Summary
Reporting to the Supervisor, Revenue, the Payroll Administrator is responsible for delivering and coordinating the Municipality’s payroll function. This function includes complex calculations and reconciliations to ensure accurate payroll payments to employees and submissions of withholdings to various government agencies. In addition, this position gathers and summarizes data for budgeting, the annual public sector salary disclosure, and annual Council remuneration reporting. This position supports and collaborates with internal departments and external agencies to ensure streamlined and integrated processes and delivery of payroll services in an efficient and effective manner.
Qualifications and Requirements
Education:
- 2-year College Diploma in Human Resources/Payroll/Finance/Accounting;
- Certification through National Payroll Institute as a Payroll Compliance Professional (PCP), with active membership and updates (proof required); and
- Certification through National Payroll Institute as a Payroll Leadership Professional or proof that the applicant is working towards the same, considered an asset.
Experience:
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in Payroll for medium to large employer (50-499 employees), in an integrated HRIS environment;
- Experience providing payroll services within a unionized, municipal environment, is preferred;
- Proficient experience using computer software and administrative systems [records management, presentations, database management and MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)]; and
- Hold and maintain a valid Class “G” driver’s license.
Terms
The regular work week is 37.5 hours per week, consisting of 7.5 hours daily, Monday to Friday. The 2025 salary range for this position is $64,116 to $80,145.
