Director of Legislative Services – Permanent, Full Time
Due to an internal promotion, the Municipality of West Perth is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Director of Legislative Services. Located in Southwestern Ontario, West Perth is a thriving, caring community that offers diverse opportunities to live, work, and play. With a population of 9,000, the community features a strong agriculture sector with significant contributions from other sectors including manufacturing, retail and services. The fully serviced community of Mitchell is the main population center of West Perth and there are opportunities for rural living in nearby hamlets and villages.
Your Next Career Move
Reporting to the CAO, and a member of the Senior Leadership Team. This position is responsible for performing all statutory duties, as a Municipal Clerk. Provides recording services and policy advice to Council and Committees and is responsible for the preparation of reports, resolutions, by-laws, and minutes. The position involves coordination of municipal licensing, drainage, land use planning, vital statistics, records management, by-law enforcement, communications, and municipal elections.
What it Takes to do the Job
- College Diploma in public administration, political science or related discipline is required.
- AMCTO MAP Courses, required.
- Willingness to obtain Certified Municipal Officer (CMO) or Accredited Municipal Professional (AMP), designation.
- At least five years experience in a Clerk’s department with management experience.
- Ability to attend evening meetings.
