Municipal World is pleased to announce that Scott Vokey will join the team as Editor and Publisher on May 31, 2021.
“I’m excited to welcome Scott to the team,” says Municipal World President, Nicholas Smither. “He brings a wealth of knowledge in local government that will be a real asset as we move forward. Scott’s leadership will ensure we continue to share valuable content – the kind of information and ideas that Municipal World members have relied on us to deliver since 1891.”
Scott has worked in media, business development, government relations, education, as well as policy and program development for public and private sector organizations. A native Newfoundlander, he lived and worked in Alberta, Manitoba, South Korea, and Taiwan before settling down in the GTA.
He has extensive municipal and provincial policy and procedure development as a Senior Advisor for the Association of Municipalities of Ontario. Scott was also instrumental in setting up and managing several renewable energy and energy efficiency programs as the Energy Services Manager for AMO’s services arm LAS. He spent the last five years providing municipal relations and business development strategy across Canada and the USA for firms in the energy services industry.
Scott has a Bachelor of Arts and a Bachelor of Education from Memorial University plus Master’s Degrees from Queen’s University (History) and the University of Toronto (Urban Planning). He has a passion for climate solutions, social justice, local government, and his family. He spends his spare time reading, baking, hiking, camping, and trying not to embarrass himself playing soccer.
