The Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo has appointed Paul Thorkelsson as Chief Administrative Officer. Thorkelsson brings a depth of public sector experience, including leadership, governance, fiscal responsibility, policy, among many other areas.
Throughout his career, he has championed diversity and equity in government service delivery within organizations and the community.
“Building stronger relationships and partnerships across the region is something that is very important for us, and I know that Paul is the right choice to guide the organization going forward,” said Mayor Sandy Bowman. “It is also critical that the CAO understands the value and positive role of the people at the Municipality in delivering the programs, projects, and services the region needs.”
