Jamie McEwan has been appointed to the position of Director of Planning & Development and Approving Officer for the District of Lake Country, effective immediately. The appointment was made on Tuesday, February 12, 2020 by Alberto De Feo, chief administrative officer, after an extensive external search.

Jamie has been with the District of Lake Country for over five years and most recently took on the role as Acting Manager of Planning & Development after the Director of Planning & Development position became vacant. Jamie has demonstrated exceptional leadership and initiative over the past five years and will be instrumental as the Planning & Development group evolves and creates a new vision for the department.

Jamie has extensive municipal government experience, including his service as a District of Lake Country Councillor from 2011-2014, and his instructor role with Capilano University’s local government program.

Lake Country has always been home for Jamie as he grew up in the community and he and his wife are raising their young family here as well. Jamie graduated in 2010 from the University of British Columbia earning a Bachelor of History and Geography and a Master’s degree in Urban Geography.
