The West Parry Sound Economic Development Collaborative (WPSEDC) has announced the appointment of James Cox as its new Regional Economic Development Officer

Cox brings more than 10 years of experience in municipal government, including eight years in economic development. He has previously led the economic development departments at the Municipality of Leamington and the Town of Goderich, and has traveled widely across Ontario delivering professional development workshops on municipal governance.

“I am excited for the opportunity to join the West Parry Sound Economic Development Collaborative and help support the area business community,” Cox said. “I have many fond memories of coming to the Parry Sound area as a visitor, and I am looking forward to contributing to the West Parry Sound Communities.”

Transformative Incrementalism: A journey to sustainability

The WPSEDC is a partnership between the seven area municipalities in West Parry Sound District, comprised of the Township of Archipelago, the Township of Carling, the Municipality of McDougall, the Township of McKellar, the Town of Parry Sound, the Township of Seguin, and the Municipality of Whitestone with a three-year funding commitment from FedNor. Its mandate is to build a supportive business environment in West Parry Sound through collaborative economic development projects.

“WE very much look forward to having James work with the WPSEDC and I would like to thank this opportunity to welcome him aboard,” said WPSEDC Chairperson Michelle Hendry. “James’ depth of experience and knowledge will complement the development of a strong regional economic strategy for West Parry Sound in support of our area business communities and entrepreneurs.”
