Mayor Kathryn McGarry, on behalf of Council, has announced that David Calder has been selected as the new City Manager for the City of Cambridge.
Mr. Calder, who was previously serving as the Chief Administrative Officer with the Town of Tillsonburg, officially started his new position on September 16, 2019.
“After an extensive search with a range of excellent candidates, I am thrilled that David will be joining our team,” said Mayor McGarry. “He has deep ties to this region, has vast experience in the municipal sector, and a leadership style that will be warmly welcomed by staff and the broader community. I know he is the right person to help guide our City as we start on an exciting new chapter”
Previously, Mr. Calder was the General Manager of Corporate Services with the City of Waterloo and the Director of Public Access and Council Services/City Clerk with the City of Cambridge. He has also held positions with the former Township of Anderdon, the former City of York, the Region of Peel and the City of Woodstock.
“It is a great privilege to return to the City of Cambridge in this role,” said Mr. Calder. “I am excited to work with Council, staff, and other community stakeholders. Cambridge is such a beautiful and progressive community and it is filled with opportunity.”
A graduate from the University of Guelph and the University of Windsor, Mr. Calder is also a graduate of the Leadership Waterloo Region Program. He has also served on the Kitchener Waterloo Community Foundation Board of Directors.
