Who Is This Award For?

The CAO of the Year award recognizes individuals who have spearheaded transformative initiatives, championed transparency, and fostered collaboration among municipal staff, residents, local businesses, and government agencies. Their unwavering commitment to enhancing the quality of life for all citizens has left an indelible mark on the community.

Municipal World will recognize CAOs who:

  • Demonstrate excellent leadership skills, guiding teams and departments toward common goals;
  • Foster collaboration, inspire confidence, and promote a positive work environment;
    Participate in strategic planning sessions with top-level executives to align organizational objectives;
  • Contribute to long-term vision and growth strategies;
    Manage budgets, allocate resources, and ensure efficient use of company funds; and
  • Display strong interpersonal abilities, building relationships, resolve conflicts, and maintain a harmonious workplace.

What Are The Requirements?

Your submission should include a summary (up to 500 words) of why the individual you’ve nominated should be recognized as CAO of the Year – highlighting:

  • How they have guided their teams and departments effectively
  • Their role in shaping the municipality’s vision and growth strategies
  • How they’ve made a difference in their community
  • Ways they’ve mentored and supported others
  • Contributions they’ve made to the field of local government – locally, provincially, nationally, and/or internationally.

Nominations must be received no later than 11 p.m. EDT on Friday, Oct. 4.
