Lessons for Canada from northern Scandinavia
Canada is, by any definition, one of the world’s most northerly nations. Almost all of Canada is Arctic or sub-Arctic, and even the “southerly” zones experience periods of extreme cold and snow. Putting aside the Lower Mainland and southern Vancouver Island in B.C., where each blast of winter weather is viewed as an undeserved assault on normality, Canada is a winter nation.
