The City of Châteauguay, located just south of Montreal, has dealt with the legal implications of blocking cell towers in its community first hand. The resulting court battle, currently awaiting a decision from the Supreme Court of Canada (SCC), is likely to become the seminal case outlining the ability of municipalities to influence and control development of federally-regulated communications infrastructure within their borders.
