I had no idea I was Indigenous until I was school-aged. It was a few more years before I found out that I am of the Tsimshian First Nation of British Columbia, and I was in my 20s before I discovered that we had a whole village full of relatives.

It was also around that time that I experienced my first powwow. The Grand Entry was an amazing sight. The floor was alive
