B.C. takes bylaw enforcement for short-term rentals online
Legislation recently adopted in British Columbia gives local governments a significant additional enforcement tool to deal with unlawful short-term property rentals (STRs).
The Short-Term Rental Accommodations Act includes provisions, expected to come into force by the time of publication, that regulate “platform service providers” such as Airbnb, the short- and long-term property rental platform, and VRBO, the vacation rental platform, and can require them to cease advertising an STR listing that a
