The Town of Parry Sound
The Town of Parry Sound is pleased to announce the appointment of Vladimir Shehovtsov to the new position of Economic Development Officer commencing July 3, 2018. Mr. Shehovtsov has over 15 years of progressive business development work including 5 years in economic development.
After a number of years’ experience in automotive sales and marketing in Ukraine, Mr. Shehovtsov moved to North America, first working in the United States as International Sales and Marketing Manager for Marley Engineered Products, making deep inroads in annual export sales. Mr. Shehovtsov then moved to Canada again working in international sales for Dimplex, in Cambridge, ON, the largest electric fireplace manufacturer in the world. Over the last 5 years. Mr. Shehovtsov has worked on behalf of trade and business development organizations, supporting Saskatchewan equipment manufacturers and farm operators in exporting to Europe and Asia, and most recently working in North Bay as a Business Development Officer.
Mr. Shehovtsov complements his strong professional background with an M.B.A. specializing in International Marketing and Strategic Business Development from the Carlson School of Management, University of Minnesota.
About his move to Parry Sound in the first dedicated Economic Development Officer role for the Town, Mr. Shehovtsov says, “This is a dream position for me. As a recent immigrant to Canada in 2002 – 2006, I visited Parry Sound on several occasions as a tourist with my family and friends and was totally smitten with its quiet charm, friendly residents and pristine environment. Now I have an opportunity to help put this beautiful town and all it has to offer on the global map. Based on my professional background and a network of business contacts across many industries and destinations, I feel certain that I can immediately and effectively contribute to developing and diversifying the economy of the Town of Parry Sound.”
