Director of Transportation & Engineering

Reporting to the Commissioner, Community Infrastructure, the Director, Transportation and Engineering, provides senior level leadership and direction for the town municipal right-of-way, including planning, design, construction, and management of town right-of-way assets. The Director also develops and implements plans and programs to further Council’s priority of mobility and growth management. You will lead a team of professionals to develop and implement short and long term programs and has responsibility for four sections: Design and Construction, Right-of-Way (ROW) Management, Transportation Planning, and Neighbourhood Traffic Safety. You will also be the accountable person for the City’s ROW transportation and stormwater infrastructure including setting technical standards, and plan/construct new infrastructure as well as corridor management. The Director ensures that annual operating and capital budgets reflect Town strategic priorities. Serving as an advocate for town’s mobility needs both within the Corporation and externally with governmental and private agencies as well as with the community at large including ratepayer and advocacy groups.
The ideal candidate has a university degree in Civil Engineering with a P.Eng. professional designation and preferably has their Project Management Professional (PMP) designation as well. In addition, your 7 – 10 years of recent experience as a progressive senior leader overseeing other managers of engineering disciplines, you have a proven track record of developing key goals, objectives and strategic priorities for approval by the Executive Leadership Team and Town Council and translating those into annual plans for successful execution by the department.
