Many municipalities have identified that their strategic vision includes being the “greenest city” or “most sustainable community” in Canada. As part of this assertion, various councils have shown competitiveness with their peer communities by establishing aspirational environmental goals such as achieving net-zero greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions sooner than any other municipalities, at least in Canada.
