Ruptured watermain exposes Canada’s infrastructure deficit
On June 5, a two-metre diameter watermain that supplies 60 per cent of Calgary’s drinking water burst, flooding local streets. One of Canada’s largest cities was in danger of running out of water. The City of Calgary responded by declaring a water emergency requiring residences and businesses to limit usage while it was repaired.
