Douglas Holmes

The Regional District of Nanaimo (RDN) has announced that Douglas Holmes will be joining the municipality as Chief Administrative Officer on August 23.

“On behalf of the Board, I am delighted to welcome Mr. Holmes to the RDN. He brings a strong financial background, extensive public-sector experience, and comprehensive knowledge of the Regional District and the central Vancouver Island area to our senior leadership team. We look forward to working with Mr. Holmes on our strategic priorities and charting a livable and environmentally sustainable path for the region,” said Tyler Brown, RDN Chair. “I would also like to thank Ms. Carlyle (former CAO Phyllis Carlyle) for her exceptional service to the RDN over the past five years and wish her well in her future endeavours.”

Holmes was selected by the Board of Directors after a cross-Canada search. He brings more than 25 years of experience in the public sector including his current role as Chief Administrative Officer with the Alberni-Clayoquot Regional District. Holmes is a chartered professional accountant and holds a Bachelor of Business Administration from Simon Fraser University.

“I am looking forward to bringing my skills and experience to the Regional District of Nanaimo and working with both the Board and staff to achieve our strategic and operational goals,” Holmes said. “As a long-time resident of Nanaimo, I am familiar with both the opportunities and challenges we face as a region and appreciate the opportunity to help shape the future of the RDN.”
