The Town of Osoyoos announced that Allan Chabot has been hired as the new Chief Administrative Officer (CAO). Chabot, who has worked in local government for more than 30 years takes over as the town’s CAO July 29, 2019.

“Osoyoos is a beautiful community with so much potential” says Chabot, who has served as Revelstoke’s CAO since 2015. “I’m excited to work with the mayor and council to help Osoyoos achieve its strategic goals.”

Osoyoos Mayor Sue McKortoff says Chabot was selected as part of a national hiring competition and brings a wealth of experience to the job, including experience in a resort municipality. “Allan’s background is an excellent fit for Osoyoos,” says McKortoff. “He understands the impacts and benefits of tourism on small communities like ours.”

Transformative Incrementalism: A journey to sustainability

Chabot was born and raised in Invermere, BC where he was elected to town council at the age of 23. After serving as councillor and mayor, Chabot began working in local government with stops in Prince George, Golden, Fernie and Merritt.

Chabot will take over from Barry Romanko, who announced his retirement earlier this year after more than ten years on the job. Romanko and Chabot will work together during the transition period to provide continuity in town operations.
