On average, Canada is warming at about twice the rate of the rest of the world, and northern regions are warming even faster. This warming is fueling extreme weather. In 2018, Canada was hit hard with extreme weather events, including:
- wildfires in British Columbia and Ontario;
- deadly heatwaves in Ontario and Quebec;
- spring flooding that resulted in evacuations being declared in Alberta, Ontario, British Columbia, Quebec, and New Brunswick;
