The City of Thompson has appointed Carol Taylor as Director of Recreation, Parks, and Culture effective immediately.
Taylor began her career with the City in 2006 as assistant treasurer, and after a year quickly rose to the position of Chief Financial Officer, where she oversaw the implementation of capital asset management into the City’s financial planning. In 2011, she moved to the role of project specialist, a more diverse role that most recently involved the deployment of the Recreation department’s new central software system.
Though she has been filling in as the acting Director of Recreation, Parks and Culture throughout the summer, Taylor wasn’t expecting to remain in the position for long. However, she quickly found a natural home in the department. “All the staff in recreation really love working together, and they really want to see both the department and the facilities improve and reach their full potential,” she said. “It was really inspiring, and I’m excited to do my part.”
“Carol has been an invaluable member of our team for over a decade,” said Mayor Dennis Fenske. “We’re excited to see her returning to a Director’s role with the City.”
